What’s your name and where are you from/where do you live?
My name is Bobbi-Dee and I’m from Vancouver BC Canada
Have you always worn your hair curly/natural?
I’ve been natural all my life. I’m half black and half white.
How would you describe your curl type?
My curl type is quite thick. I don’t think I fit into any number category like 3A etc. because I feel like I’m somewhere in between. The curls are tight and sometimes big and frizzy. It feels soft and puffy most of the time.
What’s your hair care routine?
My hair care routine in the course of one month involves washing my hair with sulphate free shampoo about 2 times. I deep condition about 3 times. Each day I wet my hair every day and apply leave in and sometimes olive oil. I usually finger comb my hair and only use a brush about 2 times a week. Sometimes when I feel like my hair needs it I’ll use a conditioner. When I go to bed I wrap it up in a cap or satin scarf and sleep with a satin pillow case as well. I use a microfiber towel most of the time.
When you wash your hair what is your routine and how long does it take?
When I actually wash my hair and do the deep conditioning routine on it I do a sulphate free shampoo first, then deep conditioner, then leave in, then olive oil. It takes about 40 minutes. I try and leave the deep conditioner in for about half hour. And I brush the deep conditioner through, and the leave in and olive oil.
What products couldn’t you live without?
I can’t live without leave in conditioner and a deep conditioner. I could probably live without shampoo though!
How often do you get your hair cut and where do you go?
I cut my own hair. I don’t go anywhere to get it cut. I don’t stick with a set schedule for cutting, but when my edges start to feel like they are getting thick with split ends, I will cut it.
Any tips/words of wisdom about your curls that you want to share?
The best tips would be that the way you maintain your hair is half the battle and the products you use is the other half. If anything, the best thing to do is to make sure your hair is wrapped up at night, because even having it on a satin pillow case still frizzes it up by morning.
